More than half of U.S. adults will develop hip or knee arthritis in their lifetime, which can limit what activities they can enjoy.
Fortunately, there are options to treat this and keep you moving. Let our fellowship-trained total joint replacement surgeon teach you about these options and which are right for you.
Dr. Sagers utilizes a “Next Gen” robotic-assistance surgical system, CORI (TM), to create a personalized surgical plan for each patient and then implement that plan with as much precision and accuracy as possible. In addition, the CORI (TM) system does not require a pre-operative CT-scan (like some other robotics systems), saving the patient from unnecessary radiation exposure and cost. It is also the only robotics system currently FDA-approved in the U.S. for use during Revision Total Knee Replacement (as of Jan 2023).
Joint Replacement surgery has changed dramatically over the last 10-15 years. Because of how recovery was then, there is great anxiety now about these surgeries and recoveries. However, with improvements in implants, operative techniques, and recovery protocols, the patients experience is greatly improved. Many patients are even candidates for Outpatient (same day discharge) hip or knee replacement. We have an approach to the surgery that optimizes the experience for the patient, starting at the pre-operative visit and continuing throughout the entire recovery.
Dr. Sagers uses approaches in both hip and knee replacements (including JiffyKnee) that avoid cutting tendons around the joint, which is unique compared to what the majority of surgeons do. This means patients are able to get out of bed and walk just hours after surgery and continue their recovery in the comfort of their home with less pain. In fact, some patients are able to go through their recovery with minimal or even no narcotic pain medication.
